| Abstract: | A picture of a Department of Sanitation vehicle mounted with advertisements encouraging citizens to clean up litter. |
| Description: | Pictured is a flat bed Department of Sanitation truck numbered "287-159." It is mounted with a larger-the-life litter basket, framed by two giant brooms. There is a regular sized basket beside it. On the side of the large basket there is a sign reading "Basket Your Litter" and on the side of the truck is a sign reading "Join the Big Sweep" with a picture of a broom. There are loud speakers mounted on the top of the cab. The truck is parked in front of a park, possibly outside the Court House on Center Street in Manhattan. On the door of the cab is the phrase, "A Cleaner New York is Up to You." On the back of the photograph is a stamp reading, "photo file no. 15513, City of New York Department of Sanitation, Official Photo, For Official Use Only." |
