Abstract: Print of front cover of 1937 Annual Report. Top reads "Department of Sanitation/...Progress..." Bottom reads "Annual Report 1937." Features illustrations of older and newer collection trucks with sanitation workers placing garbage in each. Men reach up to hand basket to worker on top of older truck covered with tarp, with description "Old method. Hazardous, unsightly and unsanitary." One worker empties basket into back of new, white covered truck, with description "Modern mechanical loader. Sanitary, labor-saving, fewer injuries." Back of new white truck reads "Clean your sidewalk/Curb your dog." Measurement drawn from ground to waist of worker at new truck reads "40 in. Lift"
Description: Black and white matte print of Annual Report cover, print size 8" x 10" with borders around print of cover. Nothing on verso. Provenance: Removed from site by Robin Nagle, 9/07. Found in kraft envelope with 8"x10" plate negative, badly damaged (water?), and black crepe-like tape border. Black magic marker in top corner of kraft envelope: "1937 Annual Report/cover/(mag/NEG+PRINT," written over pencil description "Annual Report 1937." "810105" in bottom left corner of envelope.
