The locations were identified after a year of monitoring by researchers at the Southern Poverty Law Center and represents the scale and scope of hate group activity present in the United States during the previous year. The layer is converted from an original csv from the Southern Poverty Law Center into a point shapefile. The names of locations were geocoded by Data Services staff using the Google API.
