How do we leverage oral history ("a field of study and a method of gathering, preserving, and interpreting the voices and memories of people, communities, and participants in past events”) as a tool for students' contribution to the scholarly conversation and historical record of their college community? The “Voices of SJC” Oral History Project at St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn Campus does this and goes further, helping students build competencies in research, communication, group work, problem-solving, and interviewing techniques. This session will show how academic libraries, even with minimum resources, can use the practices of oral history for powerful results.en
