Abstract: It is argued that the process of knowledge elicitation differs substantially from that of traditional systems analysis. These differences are identified and described. The implication of this observation is that significant retraining of information systems professionals and reorientation of management will be required if knowledge based systems are to be used extensively in business organizations.
