Abstract: This study reviews 57 MIS articles employing statistical inference testing published in leading MIS journals over the last five years. The statistical power of the articles was evaluated and found on average to fall substantially below the accepted norms. The consequence of low power is that it can lead to misinterpretation of data and results. Collectively these misinterpretations result in a body of MIS research that is built on potentially erroneous conclusions.
