Front to Rear: Architecture and Planning during World War II, March 7-8, 2009
March 7-8, 2009 Prepared under the scholarly direction of Jean-Louis Cohen, Sheldon H. Solow Professor in the History of Architecture, Institute of Fine Arts, the conference was co-organized by NYU’s Institute of Fine Arts, the Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal, and Princeton University’s School of Architecture. It brought together an international group of scholars whose talks investigated a wide range of architectural and planning activities that emerged over the course of World War II in diverse geographical locations. The aim of the conference was to spotlight a still seldom explored, yet critical period in the history of modern architecture and planning.
