ANSS Repository of Teaching and Assessment Materials

In order to facilitate faculty and librarian use of the ANSS Information Literacy Standards for Anthropology and Sociology Students in departments and courses, the Instruction and Information Literacy Committe has developed this repository of teaching and assessment materials. It will contain assignments, curricula, IL projects, syllabi and active learning techniques among other materials.

About the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL): The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), a division of the American Library Association, is a professional association of academic librarians and other interested individuals. It is dedicated to enhancing the ability of academic library and information professionals to serve the information needs of the higher education community and to improve learning, teaching, and research.

About the Anthropology and Sociology Section (ANSS): The Anthropology and Sociology Section brings together librarians and information specialists to discuss common issues; publish news, bibliographies, and reviews of important resources; and communicate with organizations devoted to scholarship in anthropology, sociology, and related fields.

About the committee: The Instruction and Information Literacy Committe is charged with the investigation, review, analysis and development of standards and practices of information literacy (IL) and instruction in anthropology, sociology and related fields. The Committee follows the ACRL Information Literacy Advisory Committee’s guidelines for the development of subject-based IL standard, recommends how ANSS IL standards and practices can be applied, adapted and implemented, and disseminates its findings.
