This paper discusses printmaker Lorenzo Homar’s legacy as an artist in Puerto Rico in the 1950s. Homar’s career was largely supported by the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña (ICP) promoting hispanicism in Puerto Rican identity as a response to the pressures of American culture. The paper discusses how the work of an influential printmaker promoted the colonial history of the island as a form of national pride.en
